Your Scars, Part 2: New and Old Scars

Whether its a knee replacement scar, a fracture fixed with metal hardware, surgery, a childhood injury or an acne scar...they all cause a bit of chaos in the body. The normal nerve signals are disrupted and may not go back to normal. The tissues may thicken and restrict movement. But improvement is possible and a new order can be prompted with massage and bodywork.
Massage helps to reinvigorate the tissues and increase your range of motion in an affected joint. The older an injury is, the more time and work it take to create change, but it still works.
Massage and Massage With Lymphatic Drainage Work:
Remodels collagen: Mechanical pressure signals cells to reorganize chaotic collagen bundles into a smoother, flatter pattern.
Prevents adhesions: It stops the scar from tethering or sticking to deeper fascia, muscles, or bones.
Boosts circulation: Increased blood flow brings fresh oxygen and nutrients while encouraging lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling.
Relieves discomfort: Stretching the tissue takes pressure off irritated nearby nerves, easing pain, itching, and tightness
I am experienced in working with scars! I combine methods, as appropriate, to help you normalize your scar tisssue. I will also give you "homework" so you can help yourself. Come for a full body massage with attention to unwinding your old (and new) injuries.
